Savić House Street facade
Neštin, Vojvodina
The 'trem' (porch) is constructed of oak and the posts and arches are intricately carved using simple shaping tools and chisels. The porch was retored with a number of elements replaced. This photograph was taken in 1991 as a major part of the restoration was being completed. Earlier photographs show the foundation was failing and the stone foundation was provided to stabilize the house. Many houses in the region rest on the sediment deposits that occur along this part of the Danube. The street facade reveals windows and a passage to the porch above although plans do not reveal a formal stair to this upper level.
