Traditional Dwelling, Preservation issues
Safranbolu, Turkey
One of the primary concerns of the owners of these traditional dwellings, with the UNESCO World Heritage site recognition, is that important building regulations were put in place. These regulations were meant to insure that restoration and renovation projects by the owners were completed to preserve the integrity of the buildings as historic artifacts. They have, however, created situations where the costs were too much for owners and buildings have been left to deteriorate and the owners forced to sell their homes and move to other locations.
