Çardak Dwelling 2 with uncovered çardak, Garden District
Ibradı, Turkey
Rubble stone walls help to protect the gardens from wandering animals, and a gate separates the low walls from the structure. These dwellings are referred to as summer houses by people in the town. The open platform of the çardak is used for daily work but traditionally is also used as a place to dry fruits and vegetables. Another term used for the çardak platform in this region is 'ayazlık', these platforms are raised above the ground by posts or columns.
