Çardak Dwelling 3,
Garden District
Ibradı, Turkey
This large summerhouse has a large covered çardak with seating projecting along the railing edge. The reinforced masonry has received a plastered coating over the masonry to seal the dryset stonework that is typically present; this treatment accentuates the ends of the interlocking wooden cross members of the reinforcing. The upper level walls, made of lighter construction, are also faced with a plaster surface. A compound reinforced stone wall and gate indicate that the area was more formally enclosed in the past.
