Ottoman House Museum
(Osmanli Evi Müzesi), Muradiye mahalle
Bursa, Turkey
The elevation of this important 17th century house on Prf. Dr. Halil İnalcık Sokak is mostly solid with shuttered openings that provide a view to the Muradiye külliye. Extensively restored, the lower floors are constructed of masonry, with corner quoins expressed while otherwise stuccoed, while the tall upper floor wood frame-and-infill construction is revealed. High stained glass arched openings admit light to the two interior rooms that flank a central eyvan, open to a sofa running the length of the house and facing a walled garden. (photo 1994)
