Lady Muazzez seaside mansion

This unusual asymmetrical yalı with tower lookout is located in Çengelköy, a neighborhood with many old mansions in the Üsküdar district on the Asian side of the Bosphorus. It dates from the early 20th century, in an art nouveau style typical of that period. The tower resembles a lighthouse (fener), and gives the building its alternate name, the "Fenerli Yalı". Mrs. Muazzez İpar inherited the property and was known for her generosity.
