Manastirli Ismail Hakki Efendi Yalısı

Ismail Efendi came to Istanbul from Manastir (in Macedonia) to study and teach at important medrese and published an important religious journal. His yalı, at the left in this photograph, is in the Beykoz district on the Asian side of the Bosphorus. It is organized symmetrically around a central sofa. The ground level is built of masonry, with timber frame construction above.
