Head physician for three sultans and a famous botanist, the owner of this yalısı spent summers enjoying his extensive gardens, now gone, and only the harem portion of the house remains. Located in the Kanlica neighborhood of Istanbul's Beykoz district (on the Asian side of the strait), the wooden, rust-colored yalı was built in the 19th century to replace an older building. It has three sections of differing height and fenestration, an unusual composition. The tallest section has a balcony at the middle level.
