Traditional Dwelling Museum
Studor, Slovenia
This house has been open for visitors and contains a 'black kitchen' that exhibits the blackened masonry ceiling that was typically formed from the repeated use of the open hearth. The coals from the hearth were typically placed in a connecting masonry and ceramic stove in the adjacent hiša while not permiting the smoke to enter the living space. The furnishings of the living space promoted gathering around the ceramic stove. (photo 1988)
