Dwelling showing upper čardak on southeast corner
Mali Izvor, Serbia
The main living quarters are entered from the doorway on the east side of the dwelling and the kitchen and hearth are centrally located within. The location of the čardak receives morning and midday sun but is protected from the late afternoon summer sun. We were fortunate to meet the occupant (Milan Stephanović, in the photo) and have the opportunity to visit his place.
