Bondruk Dwelling 2 with glazed čardak
Mali Izvor, Serbia
This smaller dwelling (kuća) has a corner čardak element that appears to serve as the main entry to the dwelling. In much of the countryside many of the oldest small dwellings are being replaced with concrete frame structures with hollow clay tile walls covered with a coating of cement plaster (stucco) and roofs of clay tile. Many people who work in the larger urban areas retain their family dwellings and use them as weekend houses (vikendica) to preserve or do extensive renovations.
