Lower Čardak entry
Mali Izvor, Serbia
The stone base and entry step sit below a timber sill that forms the base of the wooden frame of the čardak structure. The čardak spaces provide a place to view and enjoy the landscape beyond. The interior of this lower space provides an area to work under cover, an entry into the lower floor of the dwelling, and a place to store tools. The masonry enclosed ground level space appeared to serve as a root cellar (podrum) with no secondary entrance.
