Wooden Chapel entry
Kućani, Serbia
The entry on the western end of the orthodox christian chapel contains a plague indicating the presence of the 'royal doors' of the iconostasis within by noted craftsman Simeon Lazović. Records indicate that these doors were created in 1780 for the chapel. The pine roof planks are from the most recent restoration work. The timber sill and wall members appear to be comparatively thin for the structure when compared with other wooden churches in the region. The wooden sill appears to be tapered to accommodate the sloping site.
