Cula Greceanu, viewed from southeast
Măldăreşti, Romania
The Cula Greceanu was constructed over three centuries, the first section was built during the 17th century, although Gheorghe Măldărescu rebuilt the kula in the 18th century. The thick masonry exterior is a combination of stone and brick with a plaster coating applied. The grillwork door on the south opens into a series of three rooms each with small windows. The small doorway on the east leads to a cellar level below and the larger doorway gives entry to a stairway to the first upper level. A second stair from this middle level leads to the uppermost level with the larger cerdac. (photo 2000)
