Interior of top level, kula 3
Junik, Kosovo
At the top floor of a kula, the interior stair opens to a veranda (dysheklluku), which in turn opens to the most important room of the dwelling, a guest room for male visitors. Here, carpets and cushions provide seating, while in other kulas, raised sitting-sleeping platforms flank the hearth. Well-crafted wood trim, cupboards and the wood panelled ceiling add to the room's distinction.
