Šejh Emina Tekija sketches
Đakovica (Gjakova), Kosovo
The principal, upper level room of the tekija lodge, shown here in section, is used for the spinning dances of the Mevlevi Sufi order, and is shaped as a multi-sided space with overhead dome to mirror their circling movement. The room projects on the exterior as a complex projecting bay with multiple windows, as shown in the lower sketch.
