Šejh Emina Tekija (religious center for dervishes)
Đakovica (Gjakova), Kosovo
Đakovica (Gjakova) is a town in western Kosovo with a notable Ottoman-era architectural heritage and predominantly Albanian population. Sheikh Emin's Tekke is a Sufi religious center. This center was constructed in the early 18th century (circa 1730) by Šejh Emin. The tekija (tekke) contains courtyards, a number of meeting halls, dormitories, and mausleums with the tombs (turbes) of its early leaders. The tekke served as a meeting place for dervishes (pilgrims) who traveled throughout the country during Ottoman times.
