Deteriorating dwelling showing wall construction
Vrontero, Greece
The remaining side wall of this house shows the stone construction common throughout the Balkans, with intervals of wooden stabilization. The cause of the damage is not clear, but the charred roof framing and edge roof tiles and collapsed walls indicate some unfortunate event occurred. Many of these dwellings become weekend retreats for the owners who work in cities nearby. (photo 2004)
