Anastasiou Mansion, Barbouta district
Veroia, Greece
This recently-restored mansion in the historic Jewish district was built in 1882 and shows the symmetry typical of large late 19th century residences. Formerly the rabbi's residence, it now houses the General State Archives of Imathia Prefecture. Like the Bekas Mansion it faces the Tripotamos River, the steep banks of which formed one edge of the triangular enclosed ghetto. Perhaps the bright yellow and blue reflect original exterior paint colors. (photo 2004)
