Drawings of Sarafoglou Mansion
Veroia, Greece
The ground floor of the mansion is largely without partitions, a covered courtyard used for the family wine production. One entrance opens from the side alley. The living floor is supported on tall wooden columns with braces. Its many rooms open to the semi-enclosed hagiati used for outdoor activities during the warmer months. The mansion was initally owned by a wine-producing family and subsequently by other merchants. It has experienced several physical changes, but after recent restorations now serves as a Folklore Museum. (drawings by authors 2016 after S. Sarafoglou)
