Zographia Nastopoulou house with tsardaki (hagiati)
Psarades, Greece
A gated stone wall bounds the site of this typical vernacular house of the Lake Prespa region. The dwelling's timber-framed tsardaki (chardak), visible above the wall, would be called a hagiati in other areas of Greece, but here, near the lakes and borders with southern FYRO Macedonia and eastern Albania, a regional building culture prevails.
