Traditional Mansions on Dolco (Afon Emmanouil) Square

The Pouliopoulos Mansion (left) and Avlalo Mansion (right) face onto Dolco (Doltso) Square in the traditionally Greek Karydis quarter of Kastoria. From available plans, the Pouliopoulos Mansion appears to have central core spaces with cross axes and major corner rooms, and the Avlalo Mansion appears to have been originally divided with an offset circulation core. Both structures appear to make use of the lighter framing techniques of the other mansions in the district. The Pouliopoulos Mansion contained a restaurant in 2004.
