Nantzis Mansion from narrow street
Kastoria, Greece
The Nantzis Mansion (dating from the 1750s), with upper level large windows and smaller windows above, faces the lake to the south. The uppermost windows in many dwellings of this type contained a combination of clear glass with surrounds of stained glass to bring in the southeast and southwest light in colorful displays. The interior walls incorporate decorative wall paintings and an important illustration of Constantinople in the doxatos (colonaded room) and kalos ondas (reception room).
