Traditional Dwelling
Mid-20th century
Lukavec, Croatia
This dwelling, inscribed with names and date 1967, shows that building using traditional elements remains alive. Although the wooden planks, loft enclosure, roofing and decorative elements can be found in many 18th and 19th century dwellings, the overall size and entry to a interior stairway can be recognized as part of a contemporary dwelling typology. The dwelling orientation within the site and respect for the village building fabric maintains the character of the community. (photo 1988)
