Roženski manastir (Rožen monastery), konak (žilište) wooden galleries and stairway

Rožen (Rozhen), Bulgaria

The larger (three-story) konak wing to the north of the church were built in the early 18th century with funding from Melnik residents. The dark wooden galleries and stairway, with projecting sitting porches, give bold expression to the architecture. A courtyard garden sits between this konak and the church.
