Roženski manastir (Rožen monastery), northern courtyard with konak galleries and čardak
Rožen (Rozhen), Bulgaria
The northern konak has wooden galleries at three levels connected by an exterior stair. Projecting bays provide sitting platforms, with a final čardak with rooftop cupola added in the 19th century. Views from this čardak reveal the surrounding regional landscape of eroding sandstone escarpments.
