Rilski manastir (Rila monastery), view of Hrelja's Tower from konak gallery
Rila, Bulgaria
The tall stone tower was constructed by a feudal lord named Hrelju in 1334-35, and is the oldest structure at the monastery. This view of the tower from the third-level konak gallery includes a projecting fourth-level wooden balcony supported on angled brackets. The konaks form an odd-shaped courtyard with differing perspectives on the internal structures.
