Georgi Mavridi kăšta in Old Town, north elevation
Plovdiv, Bulgaria
The Georgi Mavridi kăšta was completed in 1830 and is an example of the late revival (renaissance) dwellings. The dwelling is currently a museum to honor Lamartine, the french poet and politician who stayed here for a few days. The north elevation of the dwelling has projecting rooms on each of the upper levels that are entered from a central hall on that level. The upper walls are timber framed with brackets to support the projecting floors and walls above. The lowest brackets are braced against the masonry ground level walls.
