Street view in Old Town,
Ul. Dr. Stoyan Chomakov
Plovdiv, Bulgaria
These houses along Ulica Dr. Stoyan Chomakov form the opening to the Nebet Tepe, a high point where ruins of an ancient Thracian city have been preserved. The dwellings were constructed with masonry ground levels and timber frame dwelling spaces above. The upper level timber floor, wall, and roof structures project beyond and are formed to capture space and provide regular shaped areas within. Small oriel windows below the upper floors provide light to the lower level for a number of the dwellings.
