Traditional dwellings forming public pathway
Kovačevica, Bulgaria
The density of the central part of Kovačevica is evident in this view of tall houses adjacent to a narrow stone-paved alley. Projecting potons occur at the top floors. The dwellings are constructed largely of stone reinforced with wooden bands, and wood (pine) construction is used for floors and upper level framework. Infilled wall areas have plastered and whitewashed surfaces.
