Dimčo Debeljanova kăšta, view from courtyard
Koprivštica, Bulgaria
The Debeljanova kăšta was constructed in the early 1830s by the father of the poet Dimčo Debeljanov. The dwelling has the organization of the earlier wooden post and plank construction along with wooden framing with infill panels covered with plaster. The framing is left exposed on the ground level. During this era the dwellings still had čardak spaces on the upper level where socializing and work occurred but the ground level storage and stable spaces had been transformed into living and working spaces.
