Guest house (konak) with projecting room and porch (doksat)
Stolac, Herzegovina
Five konaks, or guesthouses, were originally included in the Begovina, one of which is pictured here, at the river's edge. The projection of the principal upper level room (ćošak) is lined with windows facing the river. Like all the buildings at the Begovina, the konak is built of almost entirely of stone, with wood for structure, porch, roof framing and trim elements.
