Lakišić House
Mostar, Herzegovina
The 18th century Lakišić House is constructed of a blend of stone and wood and is located adjacent to the Biščević house on the Neretva River. It appears that the two houses were formerly one, with this as the haremluk (family quarters) of the joined complex. This view of the courtyard shows the restoration of the building that occurred in 2002. The restoration was based on historical documents from the local preservation institute and the Lakišić family. The wooden elements of the restoration appear true to the original but no detail carving is present. (photo 2002)
