Savić Farmhouse Entry

The porch entry aligns with the entrance door to the kuhinja (kitchen) as the principal entry to the dwelling. The rear room is entered from the kuhinja. The rear room does not have a cellar beneath, only the kuhinja and front room have this space below. The second doorway on the porch enters the larger room. The cellar space keeps the floor surface in these rooms drier but creates the need for a special treatment of the hearth base.
The thatched roof is made using reed cane that has a long history for use along the Danube because of its quality and durability. (photo 1991)
