Zeyrek, Istanbul, Turkey
Located at the end of a row of old houses in Zeyrek, this modest (unadorned) house shows basic features of construction. A masonry basement contains the entrance door, while the wood framed, plank clad construction of the upper two levels is punctuated by numerous windows. The right side of the house projects beyond the basement, supported by wood brackets, and the top floor further projects to allow for larger interior rooms. The house has since been demolished.
