Pasture Hut in traditional style
Velika Planina, Slovenia
Some of the mountain huts are guesthouses that shelter hikers and skiers, and are of newer construction, using traditional forms and materials, if slightly taller to provide more internal volume. The characteristic fan shaped roof is clad with traditionally shaped wooden shingles. Log poles (spruce) for constructing huts or fences lie in the foreground. The site, averaging 1500 meters above sea level, is accessible to visitors and holiday residents by cable car.
