Raised Two Cell Wooden Kašča (granary)
Tirosek, Slovenia
Tirosek is a highland hamlet northeast of Kamnik, in the Upper Dreta Valley. The two-celled granary is supported on a masonry base, formed as a storage cellar with separate doorway. The base timbers of the kašča extend outwards to support a platform from which the granary doorways are accessed. The upper timbers also extend beyond the cross-joints to support the overhanging, tile-clad roof. This granary, part of a small farmstead, was still in use at the time of our visit.
