Zidanica, converted Kašča
Kozje, Slovenia
This wooden plank structure with a straw roof is located in Kozje in the Štajerska region near the town of Brežice. The building most likely was used as a kašča (granary) set above a zid (wine cellar). The masonry base raises the wooden structure above the damp ground and creates a cool place to age casks of wine. The structure appears to serve now as a zidanica (vineyard cottage) for the owners.
