Traditional Bondruk Dwelling
Vratarnica, Serbia
Vratarnica is a small village located on the Timok River approximately two kilometers north of Mali Izvor on the eastern edge of Serbia. The dwelling (kuća) has an upper level for family living and a ground level constructed of stone. The upper level of traditional dwellings in this region are typically wood framed with wattle and daub infill and covered by a coating of plaster. The entry porch (čardak, doksat, or trem) exposes the wood framing with archs formed of wood and covered with plaster.
