Konak at Manastir Svetog Đorđa, view from north
Temska, Serbia
Temska is small village in the southeastern Serbian municipality of Pirot. Located outside the village, Temska (or Saint George) Monastery includes the 16th-century church dedicated to Saint George, and three residential buildings (konaks) from the 18th century. The most impressive among them is a long structure with an open arcaded gallery facing the churchyard. The building is constructed of a largely masonry ground floor and frame-and-infill (bondruk) construction above, with timber for the gallery. The clay-tiled roof is punctuated with four tall chimneys. (photo 1988)
