Konak at Manastir Rudare, detail of northeast corner
Rudare, Serbia
This corner view shows aspects of building construction: the horizontal wood banding below and above windows at both floors, and wooden shutters opening to one side or above and below the window openings. The overhanging eaves protect the plaster-coating of the walls. The window openings contain traditional wooden grills constructed of cylindrical bars fitted into notched cubic connectors that often have chamfered faces.
