Crkva Brvnara (wooden church), Crkva Svetog Đorđa
Takovo, Serbia
Takovo is a village in the municipality of Gornji Milanovac in the Šumadija region of central Serbia. The current small church was consecrated in 1795 on the foundations of an earlier church dating from 1724 and dedicated to Saint George. The church has a flat entry elevation and a curved apse in the rear. The church was built by Osaćanska master builders from Osat in eastern Bosnia. The church site is important in Serbian history as the place where the second Serbian uprising declaration took place (1866). A wooden bell tower is located adjacent to the church. (photo 1987)
