Wooden Ambar Gallery and Doorway
Petrovčić, Serbia
The details of the wooden gallery railing, and trim elements reveal the decorative patterns of the various pieces. There are a series of drawings that indicate farm owners could obtain designed kits for use in constructing their own structures. The ambar structure was an expression of the success and wealth of the owner and a point of pride to the family. The entry to the ambar was often given special attention and architectonic detail. The apparent variation of openings, in this gallery, is a result of numerous trim pieces having been broken over time.
