Gospodar Vasin Konak, corner doksat (čardak)
Kraljevo, Serbia
This konak is a stately version of ordinary rural dwellings, larger in size and more refined in construction. The living spaces are on the upper floor, reached by a stair to the upper porch, which in turn has doorways to interior rooms. This porch is augmented by a raised, projecting bay, known as a doksat in most of Serbia (although in some places as a čardak), and used for outdoor gatherings. Its sitting platform is supported on cross members that are visible below the railing.
