Crkva brvnara (wooden church), entry detail
Dub, Serbia
The low doorway to the church, within the porch space at its west end, is the one decorated feature of the exterior. The surrounding frame is scribed with circular motifs, and spans the opening with an arched panel, also scribed with various shapes, including a cross at midpoint. The door itself is decorated with a honeycomb pattern made of applied wooden pieces, and each hexagonal space is decorated in a radiating circular motif. Decorative hardware (an iron ring with elaborate circular escutcheon) completes the design.
