Crkva brvnara (wooden church), view from southeast
Dub, Serbia
This view of one long side of the church shows a single small opening in the horizontal planking, an indication of the darkness of the interior. Vertical members tie the base to top plates of the wall and stabilize the walls. The roof slope becomes more gent as it reaches the eave line to protect the walls, and its wooden roofing shingles (šindra) add texture to the all-wood construction palette (apart from a masonry base).
