Cerdac of the Cula Duca, looking south
Măldăreşti, Romania
The cerdac provides a large covered space to enjoy the view to the fields, orchards, and valley to the east. The seven trilobite (trefoil) arches and six short thick columns form the openings on the eastern side of the top level. The ceiling has plaster reliefs added in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The wooden railing in the foreground surrounds the opening for a stair from below. The cula was renamed after its later owner, I.G. Duca, who purchased the site in 1910.
