The Horezu Monastery is located in Vălcea county of the Oltenia region in southwestern Romania. It was founded as an orthodox monastery in the late 17th century with a church dedicated to Saints Constantine and Elena. The complex is noted for the highly sculptured and detailed Brăncovenesc style and has intricate frescoes within the church, paraclis, and refectory as well as the galleries that surround the courtyard. The major elements of the complex are the Church, Prince's residence, Refectory, Paraclis, hospital, and monastic cells. (photo 2000)
