Casa Măldăreşti

The Casa Măldăreşti was originally constructed in 1812 in the village of Bărzoteni located in Vălcea county of the Oltenia region. The building was dismantled and moved to the Muzeul Naţional al Satului 'Dimitrie Gusti' (National Village Museum 'Dimitrie Gusti') in Bucharest. The house is set on a masonry foundation covered with plaster. The walls are formed using interlocking wooden planks. The house with its distintive attached porch (foişor) provides additional living and working space under cover. The roof is framed with wood timbers and purlins and covered with wooden shingles.
