Casa Audia
Moldova (Moldavia),
Neamţ county
Audia, Romania
This 19th century house is part of a homestead (gospodărie) relocated to the Village Museum in Bucharest from the Neamţ region of northeastern Romania (within historic Moldavia). The single-story dwelling is surrounded by a narrow gallery (prispă) that includes a raised wooden sitting platform (foişor) beside the entrance. Wood posts support the extended roof edge. The walls of the house are built of horizontal plank protected by a whitewashed coating. Smoke from an open hearth escapes through the eyebrow roof opening.
